IT Managers and Reporting Analysts GenRe is a good addition to your toolbox. Many one-off reports, simple programming tasks and wish-lists can be carried out by power users provided they are supplied with the right tools... so that programmers can concentrate on delivering mission-critical systems on time and on budget. Small Business Owners Tired of using comprehensive packages? Tired of waiting for the next version that could address your specific needs? Tired of expensive customized programs? Now you have an option. Get your office assistant to write programmable templates, spreadsheets and reports. Anyone with Excel or Word experience can quickly learn how to use this tool. Customize systems that give you operational and strategic advantage, and enhance them at any time to stay ahead of competition. For a start, create templates of business forms. Use the templates to record transactions into computer files and print the templates as documents. Over time and at your own pace, you decide when to integrate the forms into versatile applications. Accountants and Bookkeepers
Whether you are responsible for journals, suspense files and reconciliation, or product costing, forecasts, budgets and financial performance,
GenRe Software can make you more efficient. Yes, there are so many accounting systems around but they are mostly (1) inflexible (their way or the highway), (2) expensive and/or takes a lot of time to modify, (3) too comprehensize and cater to all possibilities (because re-programming later on is too expensive) even if you need only a fraction of the package.
Most packages support the static (not dynamic) parts of business operations due to software cost and/or time constraints (imagine the cost of having to modify programs everyday).
As components of packages become outdated, workarounds are developed, either manually or in the form of Excel files with macros, pivot tables and VB programming.
Here is an example of what GenRe can do: a wholesaler had 3 warehouses supported by separate databases. To consolidate orders to suppliers, 3 Excel files were being created, and the data cut and pasted into a consolidated file because the locations do not carry the same set of inventory items. It took hours to complete this exercise. Importing the Excel files to GenRe, consolidating the orders and importing the results back to Excel took 20 minutes only. Microsoft Excel, Help Desk and Scheduling Templates
GenRe's spreadsheet-like template adds, extracts and/or consolidates data from up to 200 Excel files. Then you apply calculations to the template cells and even write the results to other templates. Depending on what you want (summaries, models), you can have layers of Excel files and templates, and get results with a few clicks of the mouse.
GenRe's help desk template is used for trouble shooting car problems, providing expert advice, diagnosing ailments, or as repository of company procedures. This template can be used for storage/retrieval of complex expert information.
Spreadsheets are good for scheduling employees, for example, with the employees into rows and columns representing time slots. However, it is cumbersome for tracking two or more types of resources as in a courier company scheduling a driver with a vehicle and also needing to know the customer. Another example would be a school scheduling a class with a teacher, a room and a time slot. GenRe's scheduling template handles up to 5 types of resources and flags double-booking.
Finally, GenRe has templates for organizing pictures and documents.
