How to Import Microsoft Excel and CSV Files |

GenRe imports from and exports to Microsoft Excel and comma-separated values files. It imports a maximum of 20,000 records. It also extracts or consolidates records from source files with up to 2 million records. This feature is available on GenRe's corporate reporting version. The program import may create a new file or update an existing file. To import a file, go to the batch menu and select [Import CSV Files].
The first import screen shows the list of existing GenRe files/programs and the free slots that can be assigned to new files/programs.
In this example, let us select a free slot, menu 1 item 2. The list of external files are displayed. You can look for files stored in other locations.
Import1.csv has been selected. By opening the file either as [Excel] or as [Notepad], it is found to contain 8 columns, row 2 is column name and data starts from row 3:
Click the [Continue] button of the Import Into A New File screen, to show the rows about to be imported. First, a warning message for demos:
The first batch of 1000 records are displayed. You can specify the input and output data formats (Map) or select certain rows to be imported (Criteria) before [Import]. Again, these commands are described by the [Help] icon.

If there are errors, the [Errors] command is enabled. Another question:
[Yes] goes directly to the new program, [No] returns to batch menu. The new program and file:
The program is fully operational - add, delete, modify records. You can tweak the screen, add more data items and special instructions at any time. Notice that the [house] icon looks complete. Click the house to show the status of the program:
