Enquiry programs do not create or update files but are meant to view, summarize and analyze records created by data entry programs. The Sample Menu includes an enquiry that reads the Sales Transaction File.
The same file has 89 records. [Criteria] button is used for selecting records:
[P] command prints the screen without the command and navigation buttons. By the way, an enquiry screen may be used to retrieve a sales file, modified to look like an invoice, then printed and sent to customers. [S] is for customizable summary screen:
The [hammer] icon shows how sum Amount is calculated.
The actions are:
Count yes and no's are ideal for statistical summaries such as counting responses to survey questionnaires.
