Download and Install applications After GenRe Software is installed either in demo or production mode, applications may be downloaded and added to the software's library. Once in the library, applications may be activated at any time. The steps for downloading and activating applications are: 1. Download the zipped file to your PC. An application is usually packed into one zip file. Some consists of 2 or more files. The files are named lib999_YYYYMMDDHHMMSS.zip where 999 is the unique library ID, followed by date and time when the file was created. Most files are under 1 megabyte in size. 2. Uncompress/extract the file. After downloading it, uncompress the file into lib999_YYYYMMDDHHMMSS.mylibraryfile. This file varies from 5 to 20 megabytes. 3. Add the uncompressed file to GenRe's library. The detailed instructions are: a. Login to GenRe Software b. Proceed to maintenance menu>utilities menu>package program:
c. Select option unpack file/add system to library d. Open the folder where you placed the .mylibraryfile. Select the file and [Continue]:
e. Select [Unpack and Add]:
f. Check the log and close the library. g. Return to main menu. At this point, you added the application to the library. 4. Activate/copy the application from library: a. From main menu, go to systems menu. b. Identify a free menu that will hold the application. If the application consists of two .mylibrary files, then you need two menus. c. Click the [hammer] of systems menu and click the free menu slot so that its details appear on the designer panel.
You can choose any free slot to activate an application into. However, if the application involves two or more menus, it is preferable to activate into original menus. To find out the original menus, click [View Library] first. If you do not follow this procedure, some drop down lists of the application's programs may not be able to access the listed files (because they will be looking for the files in the original menu). To resolve this, you can quickly re-create the lists via the [List Creator] program after the application has been activated. If you ran out of free menus, you can also save an activate application to the library, delete it and allocated the freed menu to the new application. d. Click [Create] and select the option Activate/copy from library:
e. The library is displayed. It should include the application that you unpacked.
Before activating the application, you may wish review its programs and reports. To show the AR Analysis program, for example, click and highlight [View] and click AR Analysis of the lower grid to display the program screen. On that screen, click [Close] to return to the library, then click [View] again to re-activate the other buttons. f. Click [Activate] and click the application ID to start activation. g. On completion, a log is created. View it, then [Close] the library. If the application is already active, or a file or report with the same name or ID is already active, the activation is rejected. h. If multiple menus are involved, do the same for other menus starting from step c. i. Once menu(s) are activated, [Close] the systems menu designer. j. Click the newly activated application and start using its programs.
